Titre : Question about 'user_places.txt'

Is 'user_places.txt' no longer processed under version 1.40t or have conditions of it's invocation been changed? How can I make sure that my places information are used? Currently, with some very few exceptions, all info about places of birth, which were normally sorted by country annd city, are all indiscriminately listed under 'Egypt, unkown places'. Something seems not work as planned... Good day and thanks. VK
